Meet your fun, local guide on the pier and embark on a voyage of historical and culinary discovery around this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Get right underneath the hull of London’s gem, the Cutty Sark, the last surviving tea clipper in the country. Find out about her exciting adventures rushing back crops of tea from China and what made her one of the fastest boats of her age.
With a thirst for adventure, visit the top foodie location, Greenwich Market, to try some delicious sweet treats, such as homemade waffles and ice cream, and soak in the atmosphere while browsing the goods of talented local artisans. Walk in the footsteps of British monarchs, generals, and, more recently, film stars, with a visit to the opulent Old Royal Naval College, one of the finest examples of Christopher Wren’s architecture in the country. Discover how this iconic setting has acted as a backdrop for countless films and television series, including Pirates of the Caribbean 4, 007’s Skyfall, The King’s Speech, and The Crown.
Act like a local and pop into an authentic British café for a hot chocolate or artisan roasted coffee with a heart-warming welcome, before a pleasant walk through the regal Greenwich Park to the Royal Observatory. Stand right above the Greenwich Meridian Line, longitude zero, which intersects this historic building, and from which all distances east and west are measured.
With your guide, board a riverboat to travel west toward London’s iconic Southbank. Stop in at the historic Borough Market, a cornucopia of food stalls selling all things delicious, before making your way along the river bank past William Shakespeare’s remarkable Globe Theatre and the imposing contemporary and modern art gallery, Tate Modern. Enjoy breathtaking views across the river of Christopher Wren’s masterpiece, St Paul’s Cathedral, and the architectural phenomenon of Norman Foster’s Millennium Bridge.
Tuck into appetising British delights along the way, including oysters, sausage rolls, and strawberries. End your experience in a friendly London pub with its traditional setting and convivial cheer, and raise a glass of local cider or beer.
